For many women, the journey to becoming an author can feel distant—tangled in self-doubt, limited access, and an industry that has historically overlooked their voices. Publishing is full of gatekeepers, unwritten rules, and hidden roadmaps. But powerful stories are born everywhere—in childhood memories, in lived experience, and in the everyday courage of women who observe, survive, and dream.
The Story Behind Our Story
The Developmental was founded on the conviction that storytelling should be a right—not a privilege.
At its heart is Rozi Doci, a developmental editor, narrative strategist, and book coach who created The Developmental to help first-time authors turn their ideas into powerful, publishable work. Rozi’s approach is grounded in empathy, structure, and a deep respect for lived experience—especially the kind that doesn’t always make it into mainstream publishing.
Too often, women—especially those from underrepresented backgrounds—struggle to find their footing in publishing. Not because they lack talent or vision, but because they lack guidance, resources, and the right support system. That’s where we come in.
We provide editorial services—from developmental editing to line editing and AI editing—that are not only technically strong but also deeply personal. We help new women authors refine their voices, develop confidence, and navigate the path to self-publication or traditional publishing.
